mamamindy
My DD (6.5yo, doing 1st/2nd grade work) loves workbooks. I really don't like them - or at least I want to be the one doing the teaching, and if we're done with our lessons for the day, or she wants to do more "school" work while I'm working with another child, I'd like to have something to give her. (I've started another thread on more "school" ideas for her when I can't give her the attention, and I appreciate all the advice I received. Now I know she really wants some WBs.) Some info... Other than Mardel and a small local store, we don't have a homeschool store in my town. We have a Walmart, Sam's, Dollar stores, etc.
Zoo Keeper
One of my boys has actually enjoyed doing the Spectrum/Streck-Vaughn workbooks for his grade; I was shocked. He was happy to stay busy and "feel smart" -his words ;) ETA: here a link to some of the Spectrum workbooks.

ladydusk
I've used some as "independent work" for while I'm teaching siblings. I really like Beginning Geography K-2 and Critical Thinking Activities K-3. My kids really like Mindbenders, Lollipop Logic, and Logic Liftoff. Unfortunately, they're like candy and gone in an hour. But they like them :)
Kathleen in LV
My son loved this geography workbook last year: http://www.amazon.co...ok of geography He actually would frequently ask to do it on his own -- it wasn't part of our regular curriculum. It says grades 3-6, but a lot of the early map work is fun & doable for youngers. (My son was 5 when he did it.)
