MilkMaid
Need some advice on an ag course. We dairy farm so Ag is our life but my DD wants a structured Ag course(textbook). I havent found much. Does anyone know about Exploring Agriscience by Dr Ray V. Herren or have other suggestions?... Thanks & God bless! Jane in NC
Can you ask your Extension agent for some ideas? Is your daughter ready for a college level text book? Maybe you can check out syllabi online from the nearest ag college. Or would the 4-H dairy curricula be more appropriate? Does FFA create curricular materials? kiana
How old is your DD? Exploring agriscience is really sort of a junior high textbook so she might find it extraordinarily easy. It would depend on how much she knows of areas of ag outside of dairy.
TechWife
Here is a link to the ag. course description for Mizzou's online high school. It lists the needed book, maybe that will help? She might also be interested in materials regarding agribusiness. Doing a search on Amazon turned up several books that she might get a lot out of as well. Renaissance Mom
When I took vo-ag classes in high school, they were topic driven -- animal science, plant science, horticulture, animal nutrition, crop science, ag technologies, etc. Although I don't remember taking an overview class, that doesn't mean I didn't have one! High school was a long time ago {cough, cough}. This text looks good: Agriscience Fundamentals & Applications, by L. DeVere Burton BTW, does the op happen to be Nancy in Lancaster County? If so, hi from an old WHEE friend!
