Juniper
I am looking for a good quality, free standing, air purifier to help with allergens and odors. Any recommendations? Any do double duty as a humidifier? Thanks!
Spryte
We use these. We have two of the 600 series. We've used them several years. They are somewhat pricey, but we went that route because of the size particle they filter. The replacement filters have to be ordered every 6 mos, but we initially bought ours from Costco and they came with an extra set or two, so that got us started. Definitely worthwhile for our asthma boy. He is sensitive to VOCs as well, and the particle size on this seems to help. I'm sure there are a ton of options out there. Hope you find the right one for you!

sbgrace
We have had great help from this unit. It's an air hum obviously but a bit loud on the top setting. We still run it on that setting though unless there is some reason we need it quiet enough to turn it down. As far as humidity, generally humidity promotes dust mites and, if not careful anyway, mold. I'd try a HEPA unit myself. Our allergy induced asthmatic really responded to this. When we moved I bought another so we would have one on each level.
