charlotteb Posted February 5, 2013 Share Posted February 5, 2013 I am homeschooling my 3rd child. She was adopted last year from foster care. She is 9 years old, but only on about a 2nd grade level. I would like to find a Language Arts curriculum for her that really focuses on the basics of capitalization and punctuation. We tried Abeka this year, but it didn't cover these subjects nearly as much as I would like. I am not at all concerned about her learning parts of speech and diagramming yet. Any recommendations? I was really thinking about a copywork-type curriculum like Queen's so I think that's what we're going to go with. Thanks Melissa for the confirmation! Ellie, her reading and spelling are behind as well. But I am already working on that, via Abeka phonics and we are seeing great improvements! cjgrubbs Posted February 5, 2013 Share Posted February 5, 2013 Given her background you might want to consider First Language Lessons. It is 1 book for 1st and 2nd grade.
