Sunflower
I am going to Dallas next week to help my sister move. She is just north of Dallas but I don't mind driving. Also, any must see attractions? (She doesn't have children and travels a great deal so those kind of things are not on her radar). Thanks!

Chris in VA
Half-Price Books! Go to Las Colinas and see the movie studio. You can take a water taxi, too!
Peek a Boo
another thumbs up for HER in Lewisville. half Price books has a FREE BOOKS clearance warehouse, but that's only on Saturdays. I still gotta find out where they moved to........ we're doing a 4-H Food Challenge on the 31st somewhere in downtown dallas. The kids work as a team on putting together and presenting a mystery dish. The judges will be students from the Culinary Institute, i think. And you could see MOI, lol. If your kids like the zoo, the dallas Zoo has an amazing Nature Exchange center: you bring in 5 nature items and the docents ask you about what you found, tell you about what you found, and offer you "points" if you'll trade your items to them. With those points you can "buy" a wide variety of nature items: shells, rocks, crystals, mounted bugs, sand, bones, wood, seeds, antlers, leaves, etc. We spend a solid hour in there each time we go. Just make sure you EACH --including you!-- bring 5 things [see list above] from your home area. Nothing ALIVE, and no bird stuff. and nothing from the zoo ;) It's a cool experience. have fun in Dallas!

Ferdie
Sunflower, My children loved the tour at the Bureau of Engraving, and it's free. It is one of the two places in the nation that they print currency. If you go make sure you see the spider press demo on the first floor. http://www.moneyfactory.gov/locations/section.cfm/25 Also right next to the HER store is a small community water park - Sun Valley Aquatic Center. They have 2 slides, pool and lazy river. Plus you can bring in your own food. It is a great spot to cool off in the afternoon. http://www.cityoflewisville.com/wcmsite/publishing.nsf/0/950944937081A0E286256FE9005D2E1F?OpenDocument Here is a link to the water park we go to which is the next town over. Click on membership for day pass rates. http://www.flower-mound.com/cac/ Also, right across the street from the HER is the Lewisville Public Library. It has a great children's area with lots of places to sit and relax and WiFi acess if you have a laptop. Lastly, we haven't been here yet due to the cost, but a lot of people rave about this place: http://www.dwazoo.com/aquarium.html Have fun!
