The application is used to determine the dollar amount you or your family will be expected to contribute towards college. All federal grant and loan awards are determined by the FAFSA, and most colleges use the FAFSA as the basis for their own financial aid awards. hillfarm Posted November 8, 2012 Author Share Posted November 8, 2012 Julie, FAFSA is a total pain in the neck for many parents trying to get their dc into a decent school with a decent amount of financial aid to make it possible. It is a tedious form that most have come to hate. But, it is pretty much the only game in town for getting financial aid. Few can afford to go to schools that don't accept FAFSA.
