Slipper
I love the smell of lavender and vanilla. I use glade plug-ins all over the house. With the cost of groceries going up, I need to cut back. I plan to bring them back when we have holiday company, but for everyday use, how can I achieve the same effect? Potpourri? (I would rather have natural things rather than colored wood chips that smell like vanilla and lavender). Suggestions?
Slartibartfast
You can make more natural air fresheners. Vanilla isn't cheap but there are many other essential oils that are less expensive. You can make a spray, make scentsy type things that melt in a warmer, get an essential oil burner, you can add your own stuff to those bottles with the sticks, get those rings for light bulbs, make pomanders, potpourri would work ...there are a lot of different things you can do. Rosie_0801
Make lavender tea and use it in a spray bottle. I've done the same with cloves and cardamom.
my2boysteacher
We make 'carpet sprinkles' with baking soda and essential oils. Just sprinkle onto carpets, wait 15 minutes or so, and vacuum. The house smells good for a couple days, until it is time to vacuum again.
ELaurie
I haven't tried it, but many on the forums have. You can search for recipes here or online, or ask about it in a new post :001_smile:
