Lawana
If a retired Army officer commits suicide, are there any benefits payable to his wife and dependent children?
armymomma
If he was retired, the cause of death should not matter. They would be eligible for Tricare for life health insurance and if he had elected to pay for survivor benefits, she would continue to get his retirement pay, but I believe is less. If he did not choose survivor benefits, the payments stop. They can still shop at the commissary.
TravelingChris
:iagree:Also, was he retired not long? If so, there may be a holdover from the life insurance- I think it changes to a different form.
