Liz CA
I have a tri-tip that is going on the table tomorrow. I'd like to marinate it but can't seem to come by a yummy sounding concoction for which I have ingreds at home. Any thoughts? I sort of need a "go to" recipe with somewhat common ingredients. Year Round Mom
In light of my Korean food thread, how about this one for kalbi? 3/4 cup soy sauce 3/4 cup water 3 tablespoons white vinegar 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons white sugar 1 tablespoon black pepper 2 tablespoons sesame oil 1/4 cup minced garlic (can use garlic powder instead) 1/2 large onion, diced (or green onion or onion powder) This is for 3 lbs of meat. Great with chicken, too! Yum!

eternalknot
Ohhh, I have all the ingreds except sesame oil.I have never tried Kim Che. Do you have any sesame seeds? If so, you can make your own sesame oil in a pinch. You can also just sub with regular oil, but it won't taste as good. How about peanut oil, have any of that? What about a chimichurri? Just a few tablespoons each of lime/lemon juice, minced or chopped garlic, fresh herbs (parsley, basil, cilantro) and about 1/4 cup olive oil. Oh, and a pinch or so of salt. Optional if you like some kick: jalapeno peppers :D. Add all of the dry ingredients together, then add the oil and squeeze in the lemon/lime juice and marinate away! KungFuPanda
Our favorite is soy sauce, lime juice, garlic, ginger, and cilantro.
Lori D.
Simple marinade: pound the beef a little with a meat tenderizer hammer, and throw it in a ziplock with some bottled vinaigarette dressing. We happen to have Paul Newman's Balsamic or Parmesan & Roasted Garlic -- but I think any type of Italian-style dressing will work great. Then just throw it on the grill. :)
