HappyGrace
In other words, is he emergent church, or prosperity gospel, etc? I noticed a lot of Christian authors have some sort of "niche" like that (just like secular authors, lol!) Just interested before I start reading his books. JumpyTheFrog
Based on his book "Money, Posessions, and Eternity," I'd say he's not a prosperity gospel type. He advocates very frugal living and giving as much away as you can, but not to get more like "health and wealth" types. I've really enjoyed his fiction books. Jean in Newcastle
Randy Alcorn is Evangelical protestant. He is Pro-life to the point of being arrested for civil disobedience at an abortion clinic. He studied at Multnomah School of the Bible. He attends a community church where he used to pastor before resigning after the civil disobedience incident. indigomama
We attend the same church, while I have not met him personally, I have listened to him share and read several of his books. He is highly respected at our church, he is very open and honest and very generous. He is very gospel- minded as seen in his book, The Grace and Truth Paradox. He is pro-life, pro- family, and holds to what I always considered the fundamental truths of Christianity.

I noticed a lot of Christian authors have some sort of "niche" like that (just like secular authors, lol!) Just interested before I start reading his books. If he does, I haven't noticed it because its my niche too. *wry* I really loved _Lord Foulgrin's Letters_ -- a modern remake of C.S.Lewis's Screwtape Letters (which I actually agreed with the theology of more) and its sequel _The Ishbane Conspiracy_ _Safely Home_ is one I try to reread every year because its so thought-provoking And evidently he wrote Courageous? I know that's a movie my husband and I are wanting to see.
HappyGrace
Excellent, sounds great-thank you! I'm excited to read his works. I have Safely Home here and will read his nonfiction after that.
Dustybug
I have read "Courageous" but it is completely different from the movie, and from my understanding was written AFTER the movie came out as a novelization. I own "If God is Good" and enjoyed it.
