jibaker103
I wanted my students to study a famous historical chemist or physicist each quarter during our year of Integrated Chemistry and Physics. Can you help me name the top 3 or 4 in each field?
Gwen in VA
I can't help plugging my dd1's blog -- it's about the stories behind famous scientists. http://historyofsci.blogspot.com/
jibaker103
I can't help plugging my dd1's blog -- it's about the stories behind famous scientists. http://historyofsci.blogspot.com/ Thank you for sharing your daughter's awesome blog! I will have my boys sign up to follow it. I still need to know the top 3 or 4 in each field though. Your daughter has quite a few scientists and I still don't know who to chose. Deniseibase
Obviously, it's somewhat a matter of opinion, but I'd say for physics, Archimedes, Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday, and Albert Einstein. For chemistry I'd say Dmitri Mendeleyev and Antoine Lavoisier are the two that really stand out to me.
Catherine
Nikola Tesla. Marie Curie. Isaac Newton.
bugs
Check out unit names or formulas. You could choose based on that. i.e a Newton, a Farad, etc.

Thank you everyone for your input. If anyone has other suggestions I'm still listening!
Chris in PA
For chemists I would pick Neils Bohr (for his contributions to quantum mechanics and understanding atoms) and Marie Curie (a female scientist with great work on understanding radioactivity). For physicists it would have to be Newton and Einstein.
