Slipper
My daughter (soon to be 11) wants to learn how to scrapbook. Does anyone have any suggestions on books, guides, kits, or whatever to help her get started? I'm afraid to just turn her loose because she might go a bit nuts but I think she would do really well with a guide.
Katy
Scrapbooking has gone a little out of fashion with my friends, we mostly use computer programs and then have photo books printed. She might like that. But the library has many, many books on scrapbooking. If I were you I would take her to the library (or a big store like Barnes & Noble where you can browse a while), have her flip through as many books as you can, and choose a couple that she likes the style of. There are also lots of options on Pinterest. She might also like something like Art Journaling - google it. The biggest thing is that scrapbooking can get VERY expensive, but it doesn't have to be. It's a lot more work to create your own background papers and embellishments (with cheap craft paint and plain papers), but it can be done. gingersmom
My 15,year old has been an avid scrapbooker for years. Her favorite site is http://WWW.twopeasinabucket.com. They have a ton of videos and you can see thousands of pages that people have made.
magnificent_baby
Dd8 has the kit from Target. She really enjoyed putting it together. Of course, it looks like an 8 year old made it ;), but she had a lot of fun making it. I don't think there is any kind of teaching guide with it though. That may be an inexpensive way to get started. TechWife
There are usually inexpensive starter kits at craft stores. Also, have her look at Smash Books. They have components of scrap booking, journaling and art.
