JFSinIL
We have at present SIX working computers in this house. Yet - we have NEVER had a laptop. Now dd is starting cc this fall and the computer in her room is old, creaky, overheats easily - time for a replacement. She wants a laptop since she can take it to campus and work there. Fine, o.k. - but what brand? What brand (s) to avoid? She has found a Sony she likes on-line (she likes it because it comes in pink!) but reviews at Amazon (my go-to place for reviews for stuff) are mixed. Help! helphelphelphelphelphelphelphelp ps we can only afford about $600. That is all we spent on CollegeMan's 'puter for college (normal kind, not laptop). Less is better. Parrothead
I have a Sony Vaio that I love. If this ever needs to be replaced I'll get another Sony. I've had it 4 years.
melbotoast
I've heard really good things about Lenovo (very reliable). We've had a couple Dell laptops and they've been decent.
emzhengjiu
we just bought an Asus laptop for my girls. So far, it's excellent.
emzhengjiu
Wanted to add, I bought the laptop at Sam's Club because Sam's has a 90 day return period on their computers. Wal-Mart has 15 days.
AngieW in Texas
You should see if you can get a discount for buying through the cc. You should also check Woot. They have laptops on sale all the time. Their special changes every day. I've bought one laptop, one desktop, one digital camera, and three itouches through woot. http://www.woot.com
