momma aimee
ok i want to be rid of sippies (please no comments on us still having them). are there any non-plastic tumblers that have lids that aren't like 20 buck a pop travel mugs?
Dory
We have little cups with pop up straws and removable straws inside them. We just bought them at our dollar store for $2.50 a piece. Our local school uses them in the preschool room and kindergarten rooms too. They look just like these and clean well in the dishwasher. Ours were a no name type brand. http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-3117RDSPA-Litterless-Juice-Boxes/dp/B000VPBL98
QueenCat
Tupperware makes tumblers that come with solid lids. That way you can store it in the fridge if there is anything leftover.
Guest
Tupperware makes tumblers that come with solid lids. That way you can store it in the fridge if there is anything leftover. We have used these since the kids started drinking. I just buy a package of straws occasionally and we are set.
Ali in OR
We have some Contigo cups with lids and you press a button to open a slot to sip from. Ours our plastic, but I think I've seen metal ones too. They might be more expensive though. Ours were 4 for $16 at Costco a few years ago. raceNzanesmom
The ones I use with my day care kids are BPA free plastic. Like the post re: Tupperware, I just buy a package of straws. That way they have fresh, unchewed straws and it's inexpensive. Cuts way down on spills, but isn't a sippy cup. I start the kids on them around 16-20 months, depending on the child. Even my 8 y/o likes them for the car. I'm not finding the exact ones I have, but they're similar to these. http://plasticsfromus.com/-12-Blue-Plastic-Drinking-Glasses-Lids-Straws-12-oz-Mfg-USA--P2320824.aspx ETA: I like that I can write their name on them too. theYoungerMrsWarde
The Playtex Coolster Tumblers are a LOT like the rim of a cup. And the lids fit on their other sippy cups if you have some.
