paceofnature
I would like to find a set that really stick. The ones that I have bought in the past always slide down the fridge or the magnets fall out of the backs. It is hard to tell when ordering online if they are the cheap-o type or not. It would also be great if they were both upper and lower case ;) Which ones have you used that you loved?
Targhee
120 Letters Foam Magnets by Smethport. http://www.amazon.com/Smethport-120-Foam-Magnetic-Letters/dp/B001ECI9EM/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top I looked briefly at the neg reviews - mostly people not understanding what the product was and being disappointed. One person said not all her letters were magnetic. I have had no problem. Every letter is magnetic - in fact the entire back of each piece is magnetic (as opposed to a little magnet piece). Comfy to handle and move about. Stick well to fridge and white board.
Mommee & Baba
Melissa and Doug 100% These are the sets we have. http://www.melissaanddoug.com/magnetic-wooden-alphabet-learning http://www.melissaanddoug.com/magnetic-wooden-numbers-learning These are wooden and the entire letter/number is magnetic, not just a little piece. Plastic seem to be cheap everywhere I've found & foam wouldn't last in my home with toddler boy handling them! We need sturdy! We use these on the fridge, oil pan that I use with my dd's AAS tiles, cookie sheets, & have had no issues. frugalmama
I really like the Leap Frog ones - the ones we have came with a fridge phonics thing, but you can buy just the letters too. The magnet part is fully encased in plasic so there is no worry about little ones swallowing it, but it still sticks really strong.

I'm missing some letters, but I don't want to have to buy the whole toy all over again.
2queens&1princenmyhouse
We have both the Melissa & Doug letter and the Leap Frog letters. Both are good. I like that you can get M&D in lowercase. I tend to teach upper and lowercase letters together and many magnet sets only have UC. Can you tell me where? I'm missing some letters, but I don't want to have to buy the whole toy all over again. You can get them from the Leap Frog site http://shop.leapfrog.com/leapfrog/jump/Fridge-Phonics%3A-Spare-Magnetic-Letter-Set/productDetail/Spare-Parts/974-00762/cat330010?navAction=jump&navCount=0&categoryNav=false
wearejenandkev
I like the letters from All About Spelling. I bought one set to use with the program (for my older boys) and one set to use with my youngest (for teaching reading.) They are not fancy, but they are very functional. They have a strong magnet. They are small and flat, so they are easy to store. I don't like letters on my fridge because it leaves scratch marks. Instead, I store the letters on nesting cookie sheets. It is very convenient and works great. If you want to see pictures of my magnetic letter setup, you can look at it on my blog: http://teachingboys.net/2012/02/29/reading-three-letter-words/ Jennifer
