caedmyn
A friend of mine is concerned that her kids are not understanding their grammar programs. She was thinking about having them tested at a Sylvan learning center...I told her I'd see if there were any free online placement tests/diagnostic test for grammar. She has a 2nd grader, 4th/5th grader (not sure which), 7th grader, and 9th grader.
Momling
In order for testing to make sense, there would have to be some kind of agreement about what should be taught at different grades. Since every grammar or writing program has a different scope and sequence, I don't see what could be usefully tested.
caedmyn
I would have thought some curriculum publisher would offer placement tests for their own curriculum, but maybe not.
Jen500
I would have thought some curriculum publisher would offer placement tests for their own curriculum, but maybe not. She could try using k12's language placement tests for a general idea- https://eprcontent.k12.com/placement/placement/placement_langarts_2.html
tonersl
We have used Christian Light Education's diagnostic tests for their LA program. Granted, it is to help those looking to use CLE's LA program determine which level to use but it might be a good starting point for someone to see where their children's knowledge level is. Take the test(s), check the scope and sequence for the level that the child does well on and then search out curriculum that closely matches the scope and sequence (or use CLE).
