OnceAHomeschooler
I just started reading the well trained mind. It gives you suggestions for grade1 history. Would TSOTW be a good curriculum to use in this area? Tia!
TheAutumnOak
Yes, The Story of the World year 1 Ancients, would be great to use for first grade...
KristenR
Yes. I plan on starting it with my 1st grader next year. You should really pick up the activity guide too. It has great suggestions for activities and additional resources.
chepyl
My first grader loves it! We have the audio books and listen to each story a few times. He begs to do it.
KrissiK
SOTW is an outstanding history curriculum. We're in book 3 now and history is hands-down our favorite subject.
momma2three
It was written by one of the authors of The Well Trained Mind, so you'll probably find this site rather biased towards it :D But it is a very nice curriculum, and easy to use. There's an activity guide to go with it. It is also sometimes used as a component of a 3rd party curriculum. I know that History Odyssey by Pandia Press uses it extensively, and I think that several other package curriculum sources use it, too. Welcome to the board! This place is a fabulous resource if you're just getting started. It takes a while to learn all the acronyms people talk about in some of the posts, but soon you'll be talking like that too :tongue_smilie:
Harriet Vane
Outstanding curriculum. The book is well-written, interesting, and detailed. The activity guide offers a lot of options and is easy to use. I have used this for many years with two kids and still LOVE it.
