lorrainejmc
It looks like I'm switching my youngest ds to MUS. I have never used Alpha before but have used Beta and Gamma. Could I manage without the TM and dvd for this level?

meggie
I wouldn't. To me, it wouldn't make much sense. All that's in the books are the problems, not very thorough instructions on what to do. However, if you've done the higher grades and are comfortable teaching "decimal street" and everything, then maybe? :D Sorry, I know that's not much help. For me, I'm so uptight, I want to make sure I get everything covered, even at that young age.
Surfside Academy
You could probably get away without one but not both. I think the DVDs are invaluable. I still use the TM but to a lesser extent.
Shellydon
I think you could skip the TM but not the DVD.
lorrainejmc
OK, thanks everyone. I'll just have to get the TM/dvd. Will my curriculum spending for THIS year ever end?
armom
We finished Alpha in December. I would definitely say to get at least the DVD. I didn't use the TM at all, but haven't used much for other levels either. I watch the video with my children and then we do extra practice together. EMS83
Maybe you could forego the workbook and make up the problems yourself?
lorrainejmc
A few of you have suggested the dvd without the manual. Where are you getting the dvd on it's own? Our UK supplier only has them as a pack and TBH, when my dd used Beta and Gamma, I rarely used the TM, which is why I'm asking.
