Bokons
Ds5 is in kindergarten, and I am considering these three workbooks for him, but I am wondering if he needs to know his letter sounds before using these books. He only knows about half of his phonograms so far. Thanks.
StephanieZ
Nope, no prior knowledge needed for the primers. Timing sounds perfect! Go for it! :) They're awesome! ETC was such fun! Miss those days! :) Enjoy!

KristenR
We really like the Before the Code series. No prior knowledge needed.
Bloggermom
Get Ready for the Code - Book A teaches consonants b, f, m, k, r, and t. Get Set for the Code - Book B teaches consonants p, j, h, s, n and d. Go for The Code-Book C teaches consonants c, l, g, w, y, v, z, and q. It teaches the sounds for you so no, your child doesn't need to know any letter sounds.
MrsMommy
We love the Explode the Code primers! I started using Book A with my four-year-old after Christmas, and she's having as much fun with it as her two oldest siblings did. And she's learning the letter sounds as she goes through the book, so no previous knowledge necessary. It also provides good handwriting practice, which she really needs! ;)
