mryann
My 8th grader used SM through 6B. He did Lial's BCM for 7th grade and loved it. I started Lial's Alg 1 this year but he doesn't care for it at all. He's ready for Alg, Lial's just isn't a good fit. Would Jacob's be a better fit for him? matilda
You can see most of Jacob's Algebra on Google books. Click on view sample. http://books.google.com/books/about/Elementary_algebra.html?id=PEBMNI51vMEC
Matryoshka
Just curious what he doesn't like about it? My dd hated BCM but was very happy with Lial's Prealgebra and now their Algebra. She's just finishing up chapter 4. My other dd is using Foerster's Algebra.
EKS
We loved Jacobs here! Here's a review I wrote of it.
mryann
matroyshka, he needs more explanation before jumping into problems. He absolutely loved Lial's BCM and so I thought the Alg book would work well. For the last few weeks, he has been dreading the book and trying to put it off. Today he shadowed with a private school and loved the Alg class. He said that it was fun and interesting so I know that I need to find another text. Thanks for the link to Jacob's! Any recommendations on edition?

Click on view sample.http://books.google.com/books/about/Elementary_algebra.html?id=PEBMNI51vMEC I might be going blind, but I don't see 'view sample' anywhere on the page. Could you please tell me where it is?

EKS
Any recommendations on edition? There's only one edition, so it's easy that way.

MicheleinMN
http://www.covenanthome.com/files/9thgrade_pack_jacobselemalgebra.pdf Try this link for sample pages. I use Foerster's Algebra 1 or Saxon Algebra 1 depending on the type of student I have. Search Saxon Algebra 1 at cbd.com for sample pages. MicheleinMN
I'm not sure it's a great sample page, as I don't see any problems from problem set I or set II. :001_huh:
Krista in LA
We also went from Singapore to BCM to Jacobs Algebra and it's been a good progression with both of my kids.
