choirfarm
I loved my mom's two presents for me: first of all ( and this was a family present!) she donated enough money to Smile Train to fix a cleft palate and lip for a child. (I had this.) The second gift is sort of from my stepdad. His father passed away a year ago and they found some books they thought I would like. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! It is two boxes full of Great Books of the Western World. It has a family reading plan and everything including a 10 year plan to read everything in all these volumes. Here is a web page I found so you can see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Books_of_the_Western_World http://www.angelfire.com/art/megathink/greatbooks/ Now I will have all of the original texts as we go back to TOG year 1 and tons of stuff for my own self-education. So cool. I had to share as my husband just rolled his eyes at yet more books to clutter up the shelves. Speaking of which, I need a new bookshelf for them. :001_smile: Edited December 26, 2011 by choirfarm

While we sometimes sought out other translations when my son was being home educated, I regularly use these books for reference to this day. To be honest, I should be spending more time reading these books. Hmmm....I think a New Year's resolution may be shaping itself here...
