Freakonomics - Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner Superfreakonomics - Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner Blink - Malcolm Gladwell Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell Brain Rules - John Medina Predictably Irrational - Dan Ariely The Millionaire Next Door - Thomas J. Stanley and William D. ErinE
More business history, but great insights: Liars Poker by Michael Lewis When Genius Failed by Roger Lowenstein Black Swan by Nassim Taleb Smartest Guys in the Room by Bethany McLean Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds by Charles McKay I would not recommend anything by Jared Diamond. I only mention it because his name tends to come up as an expert opinion on scarcity and economic development. I've read Guns, Germs, and Steel and Collapse and found both books riddled with errors. Carol in Cal.
The World is Flat has the same 'feel' as some of those. For a more earthy one with a lot of food for thought, how about either Animal, Vegetable, Miracle or In Defense of Food?
