Luanne
I am thoroughly enjoying reading this book. It is one that I pick up and don't want to put down. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes horses at all. Has anyone else read this book?
Brindee
I haven't read the book, but I was able to take my dd to see them perform nearby. She LOVED it! QUITE amazing! I should find the book now!
Robin Hood
My dh who hates literature, read it to the girls for bedtime reading and became engrossed. I was very pleased. They all loved it and I just today returned it to my friend.
camibami
Marguerite Henry has a gazillion really good horse books! My mother read them all as a child (she had horses and loves them still) and passed them on to me. My all-time favorite is "Mustang, Wild Spirit of the West". Glad you enjoyed it- I just love those books and get altogether too excited to see someone else who loves them, too!
tinkgumby
There's a Mary Stewart book I really love called "Airs Above the Ground" - sort of a romance/mystery (not steamy at ALL), and the main plot centers around the White Stallions of Lipizza, which made me interested in them. I own the book you mentioned (for a future SL core), but now I guess I'll have to go read it ahead of time! Thanks for the recommendation! Jennifer in MI
We read it this year too. All my boys liked it. We rented the movie and have looked up where to watch the horses perform (haven't gone yet).
KellyGirl
We read several of her books this year in Sonlight 1&2, and White Stallions was def. one of my son's favorite books of the whole year. I also found myself not being able to wait and see what would happen next. It was truly a joy to read...unlike some of the other read alouds like Ginger Pye Eleanor Estes. My son would die to be able to attend a performance! We did watch a few brief clips on YouTube after we finished the book.
Brindee
I hope you guys can go sometime. It's AMAZING to see them---and quite the dream come true for my dd! I'm glad we had that opportunity! I agree, thanks for the recommendation, I'm going to have to go find that book now!
Heather in the Kootenays
I just had one or two in my hand thinking it might be time to let them go but no not yet.
Parabola
Ahhh I love that book! I read all of Marguerite Henry's horse books. My parents took my sister and I to see a Royal Lipizzan show in 1981. I still to this day have the program for the show. It was cool.
Cindyg
Margurite Henry is an amazing author. Everything she wrote was beautiful. She was probably the first author I loved. Still do.
Elisabeth in IL
you have to check out the Temple Lipizzans. http://www.tempelfarms.com/ They put on a beautiful show and tour of the stables. They have performed for most of the Presidents over the last couple of decades.
Michelle T
I read them all many times. I particularly remember loving King of the Wind and Album of Horses. Michelle T
