supplemental resources for Algebra 2?

Recommended Posts

I want to offer suggestions to a young relative. He's a freshman in an honors Algebra 2 class with a "horrible" teacher. He said he's now teaching himself from his textbook (Glencoe) which has sort of been working but it's far from perfect. His old spark about math appears to be gone. Besides Khan Academy videos, is there anything else I can suggest or point him toward? I ordered an old Dolciani because it was very inexpensive, but I can't think of anything else. If I thought he'd be willing to work through AoPS book(s) I'd be willing to buy him that too but I'm not sure he's quite that motivated in terms of the time he wants to put in. He's a very bright kid. He does plan to visit his old algebra teacher for help. A tutor may be on the horizon but my sense is that's not his style. Any ideas are welcome!

He can work through Kinetic Books Algebra II and just do only the online problems.

He can watch the videos as http://www.brightstorm.com

He can try the problems at http://www.interactmath.com for an algebra II book published by Prentice Hall. They have "help me" available which will walk him through the problem and it's free.

Glencoe has a companion website for their Algebra II books here: http://www.glencoe.com/sec/math/studytools/ost.php4/na
