Xuzi
So we're in the (longer than expected :tongue_smilie:) process of remodeling our kitchen, and we now have some open shelving. I want to buy some pretty matching canisters to put the food I typically from the bulk section (flour, sugar, rice, etc.) on those shelves. Something like these: http://www.amazon.com/English-Bakers-Stoneware-Canister-Set/dp/B003VSZ6U2/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1318131420&sr=8-14 ...but less expensive! Any suggestions on places other than Amazon (where I'm currently searching) that I could find something like these? I really like glass. I know, not very fancy but very easy to clean, you can not only see what is in the canister but how much, not very expensive and you can purchase them individually so if you want 3 1gal canisters it is easy. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Anchor-Hocking-1-Gallon-Heritage-Glass/dp/B0000DDVN7/ref=pd_sim_k1

You could always add some chalkboard paint to make them even prettier. I found this post while googling: http://www.3meadowlakecottage.com/2010/07/kitchen-canisters.html
laundrycrisis
Crate&Barrel has plain white or clear glass ones that are simple and affordable. For something fancier, the online Pfaltzgraff store has some great prices ! http://www.pfaltzgraff.com/country-cupboard-canister-set/K5067269,default,pd.html?cgid=kitchen_countertop_canisters http://www.pfaltzgraff.com/Sealed-Canisters%2C-Set-of-3/18933000,default,pd.html?cgid=kitchen_countertop_canisters http://www.pfaltzgraff.com/providence-3-piece-sealed-canister-set/45033000,default,pd.html?cgid=kitchen_countertop_canisters Edited October 9, 2011 by laundrycrisis
Remudamom
I love Polish Pottery but it's not cheap. I did pick up three gorgeous tin cannisters at a junk/antique store in town. Try looking around in some of those. The ones I frequent always have cannister sets and some of them are pretty.
kesmom
You could also add your own vinyl letters/labels to plain canisters.
