Why jump to sugar?!?!

I can't stand when people make assumptions of any kind about my son.

 

Today he had some GF homemade pancakes with real maple syrup, a banana, chicken with brown rice, and 2 bottles of water. I decided to treat the kids to McDonald's for dinner. Ds was quite hyper, but I said I'd take them so I didn't want to back out.

 

The woman at the counter tells me that ds should lay off the sugar for a while. I couldn't stand in McDonald's and claim that the kids only eat whole, nutritious foods, but I'm not going to give her a medical lesson either. The reason ds is currently hyper is due to his asthma.

 

So why does everyone jump to sugar?! I'm sure there are plenty of hyper kids who eat a healthy diet.
