musicianmom
Someone posted an article here a few weeks ago about overexcitabilities and gifted kids. It described my dd very well, but I'm still at a loss as to how to parent through all these issues. How would I go about finding a professional who has actually heard about this theory and has experience with gifted kids?
deacongirl
Living with Intensity is the best book that describes Dabrowski's theory IMO. The book Parenting Your Spirited Child, even though I don't think she even mentions Dabrowski, has tons of great ideas that would apply. Also Hoagies' gifted has a list of professionals that would get it. Good luck.
minuway
I second _Living With Intensity_ - although I wish it had more nitty-gritty suggestions for younger kids. Not related specifically to overexciteabilities, but I also am enjoying _Some of My Best Friends Are Books_. In it the author has suggestions for books that address some issues that I know my girls struggle with - perfectionism, etc.
jenbrdsly
I think the SENG website has some tips on finding people.
