Jamauk
My youngest will be 6 next month <sob> We've considered Amazon Prime in the past, but could never justify the expense. I'm really curious about Amazon Mom, but wondering if I'll really get to use it much since I don't have a baby. Do they require a cc# to register? Does it automatically roll over into Amazon Prime if you don't cancel it? Thanks!
RegGuheert
Our youngest was 6 when we joined, but we managed to extend by the additional nine months because he wears pull ups. We put those on a subscription and saved a fortune over the price at Wal-Mart! I don't think it automatically rolls over into a Prime Membership since they are not the same. DawnM
Also, if you have a college email address you can get the student Prime account for free. If you have a college student in your household or anyone with an .edu email account you can get it. I found this way to be better because then I didn't need to purchase anything. (my email address is through the alumni association at my alma mater.) Dawn
sbgrace
We've got it and have no baby here. We actually got extended buying some things I wouldn't have expected to "count" as baby but I can't remember what they were now. I'll be sad when it runs out. I don't remember any credit card information or it turning to Prime.
Jamauk
Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to go ahead and sign up. No harm in trying it out, right?
RegGuheert
Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to go ahead and sign up. No harm in trying it out, right?Well...there IS the strong possibility of getting addicted to Amazon Prime. :D I will point out that IF you can puchase something through the AmazonMom store AND put it on a subscription, the savings are incredible, even ignoring extending your Prime membership. I've been texting DH about it. He's out of town, but when he gets home we're going to look at some groceries and other items to put on subscription. I'm not personally worried about getting addicted to Amazon Prime, but I'm fairly certain DH will :D
ChristusG
Absolutely! I registered when my youngest was 3 and I was not pregnant. I used it a lot then and even more now.
Mothersweets
Ok, so can someone explain Amazon Mom to me? I shop at Amazon all. the. time. and if I can save a little that'd be great. Is the discount for only baby/little kid items? or does it include everything?
Momof3littles
I love it. I maxed out my # of months but have enough months remaining to get us through the holidays and a bit beyond. Phew! ;) Prime is wonderful. I wish it wasn't at times LOL, but I've really grown to depend on it sometimes. I have a 17 month old who still naps, and with HSing, sometimes I hate taking the time to run out to the store for something small. I can often find the item on prime and have it in 2 days. I do a lot of Christmas shopping on there. Not only does Amazon offer some amazing deals just before Christmas (I've picked up sweet deals on things like a Thames and Kosmos science set for a great price), but you can have the items shipped to other addresses. That means I don't have to schlepp to the post office in order to mail toys for Christmas/Bdays for kids in the extended family. That is worth a lot to me these days. Shipping isn't cheap and I love that I can just get stuff sent directly to others. My mom and dad don't have internet access so I often order things for my mom like her laundry detergent, etc. on amazon (for a good price) and have it shipped right to her. She likes a lot of the same products I like, so if I see something we use a lot go on sale, I pick up one for me and call her to see if she needs one too, and I can have it sent directly to her doorstep. When we visit my parents out of state, I also use Prime to send diapers (we use cloth at home but I use sposies when we travel for more than a weekend) directly to their address so they are waiting for me when we arrive. (eta: baby/kids are "qualifying" purchases on amazon, so for every $x you spend, you get a free month of Prime added on. I've had the amazon mom prime thing for so long I forget if it is $25 or $30? THere are also lots of things that qualify that you wouldn't think of. For example, I buy almond flour and it is a qualifying item for some reason LOL. Once you do the trial and have the amazon mom prime thing, all of your purchases ship prime (books, etc.). Subscribe and save does not. Mom in High Heels
I have Amazon Mom and while I extended the free shipping by buying a certain a certain amount in the baby store (I got a full year), I get free 2 day shipping on almost everything sold by Amazon (though not items sold by Amazon affiliates). I totally take advantage of it too. I used to wait until I had the dollar amount in my cart for free 3-5 day shipping, I now go on (sometimes 2-3 times a week-see I'm addicted!) and order something, check out and get free 2 day shipping on each item. In the 6 months I've had it (mine ends in Dec!), it has saved us a FORTUNE on shipping and we get it really quickly (even though our mail has to go through the Army to get to us-usually in less than 5 days). I will happily pay for Prime once my Amazon Mom is over. The 2 day shipping alone is worth it. My mom needed something fairly big from Amazon and I ordered it for her with my AM account. She was eligible to upgrade the free 2 day shipping to next day for $3.99. I ordered it around 3pm her time and it was at her door by 10am the next day. Awesome.
