bnrmom
Ds1 is 10yo - he was in public school last year, but I didn't see a lot of formal grammar. He has a pretty good grasp of the basics just from reading and writing, but I'd like to start him on a formal program. However, I don't want to get bogged down in too many advanced details. I like the look of Easy Grammar, but am thinking maybe I should start with 4th grade? If you ask him right now, he'd say he has no idea what a preposition is, but I'm sure he'd pick it up quickly. Any other suggestions? I would love it if there was a Teaching Textbooks type program for grammar, so I'm open to online options as well. Thanks! atozmom
Junior Analytical Grammar now has DVD's to go along with their program. My dd is using AG and we love it.
truebluexf
I was going to say JAG as well. It's meant to be used by first-timers but goes in depth nicely. I believe it's also only 12 weeks long, with a great applied component for the rest of the year.
Stellalarella
I used FLL Level 4 last year for ds who was 12. He also was coming home from K-5th grade ps and had limited grammar instruction. FLL4 worked great for us.
wapiti
Another vote for JAG. My dd is also using AG and we're very happy with it :)
MerryAtHope
I really like Easy Grammar, and you can start with whatever grade level he is, it won't matter that he hasn't done it before.
iona
Do the FLL review from the year before so you could start with 4 without having had gone through 1-3?
