One-Year American History Overview for 1st and 4th grader?

Recommended Posts

I'm pulling my hair out trying to decide what to do for this! Please help!

I'd like to do a literature based, somewhat fun/interesting, one-year overview of American History. Instructions for projects/extra activities aren't a high priority, basically I just need some hand-holding as to what books to read when.

Any thoughts? I'm looking at Sonlight Intro to American History One-Year Condensed, but I'm pretty sure most of the book choices would be boring for my rising 1st grader. I've never used Sonlight, so I'm not sure exactly if it's what I'm looking for anyway. Any ideas?

TIA!

Take a look at Winterpromise, too. They have an American history curriculum that's fun and aimed at those age ranges.

Homeschool in the Woods is another great one.

As well as Trail Guide to Learning.

I've used them all (in combination, actually), and they're all excellent and my kiddos have enjoyed them.
