M&M
We are finishing up Y2 and dd likes the Western Civ textbook better than the primary resources this year. It looks like she would prefer to use a textbook next year. Dd thinks she would like to use BJU, just read a chapter and take a test. Since I would still like to do TOG or at least history ala WTM, I was wondering what text TOG uses for Y3. Thanks for your help.

Brigid in NC
My Year 3 is the 2003 version, not the newest edition. So the alternates may have changed. In mine, there are four listed: Dialectic/Rhetoric: BJU - World History for Christian Schools, Second Edition (1993) BJU - United States History for Christian Schools, Second Edition (1994) Rhetoric: Spielvogel - Western Civilization, Fourth Edition, Comprehensive Volume (2000) Christian Liberty Press - Streams of Civilization, Volume 2, Second Printing (1995) :001_smile:
Shelly in VA
From the Lampstand Bookshelf site, the list of rhetoric alternate history resources is here: https://www.lampstandbookshelf.com/ZC/index.php?main_page=resources&step=2&year=3&units=all&LR=on&subjects=some&S1=on&type=alternate There isn't a textbook-type spine listed for Y3. There is a strong emphasis that year on American History and the presidents, so the only book listed for multiple weeks in the rhetoric level is The American Presidency by Brinkley and Dyer; in the dialectic level, both Our Island Story and This Country of Ours by H.E. Marshall are listed. I thought I used a textbook alternate resource last year with my then 7th and 9th grade kids, but I guess I did not. HTH.
