sixtimemomma
Does anyone have a curriculum suggestion for a child that dislikes math?
Leonor
If you search Conceptual Chemistry, you will find many posts that have discussed this. This thread, science for the struggling math student, http://welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254379&page=2&highlight=Conceptual+Chemistry has links. Lori D.
Chemistry for the "non-mathy" student has been a "hot topic" recently, so you might want to look over threads of the past two months for more input. Seems like the four standard answers to a "non-mathy" or "less-mathy" chemistry seem to be: Integrated Physics and Chemistry (non-mathy) Friendly Chemistry (non-mathy) Spectrum Chemistry (less-mathy) Conceptual Chemistry (less mathy) For reviews and experience on these programs -- and more chemistry program ideas -- check out the past threads below. And do check out the thread linked by the above poster -- lots of good ideas in that thread, plus even more links. BEST of luck in finding what works for your family! Warmly, Lori D. atozmom
Integrated Physics and Chemistry (non-mathy) My dd is using this one this year and is doing really well with it. She has actually used and quoted some things that she has learned, which for her and science, is unheard of.
Tina
My boys and I are loving the Chemistry 101 DVDs and really learning about the elements, uses, etc. No math.
RobinL in Canada
Is Integrated Physics and Chemistry very similar to Tiner's other books such as Exploring the World of Chemistry? That is, are they primarily historical/ narrative? If not, how do they go further than those books?
RobinL in Canada
And just took a look at this at CBD online--wow, it's expensive! $200?! Why so much?
