Enough
I have the AO and similar lists that are Great Books-ish in nature. What I'm looking for is fiction, but really really really good fiction, specifically for elementary age kids- Newbery winners and the like- and higher, if possible. Modern/current literature, too! Is there a list somewhere like this? Top 100 books every kid should read or something? (Hmm, just seeing that makes me think I need to Google that phrase.) Thanks! :)
kokotg
How to Get Your Child to Love Reading has a list in it called something like "Books you have to read before you're 13," and I've really liked it. I pulled most of my oldest DS's 3rd grade reading from that list, and I plan to do the same for the DS7 next year. It's mostly fairly recent fiction (the past 50 years or so) and a blend of the award winners and standards you'd expect and some more obscure, off-beat choices. In the past, I've been able to find the list online...I'll look around and see if I can find it again.

kokotg
Oh, look--it's right there on her website: http://www.planetesme.com/resuscitation.html ETA: huh. She says it's a list of great read alouds, but I think it's the same list, retitled.
Mrs Twain
We have been reading various selections from Honey for a Child's Heart. Almost every book we have read from those lists is great. They are mostly fiction, and the lists go by age and type of story.

laundrycrisis
I am choosing many books from the literature lists at the Veritas Press website and the Christopherus Amazon store. http://www.christopherushomeschool.org/waldorf-homeschool-publishing-and-consulting/amazon-store.html
