US Capitols game ideas

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a game that will help my (embarrassingly old) kids learn their US Capitols. . . especially one for older kids (age 12 and up). . .any suggestions?

How about making a set of cards, each showing the name of a state, then shuffle them together and see how quickly each kid can sort them into three piles - one for State House and Statehouse, one for State Capitol and one for Legislative Hall (or four piles if you want to differentiate between the first two)?

Dare I assert that knowing the state capitols is not important? I think it is more relevant in modern life to know world capitols.

Jane (who has always wondered why knowledge of US Capitols is more than a memory exercise)

ETA: Maybe this is a hotbed of controversy! How exciting to start a controversial thread! Maybe? :tongue_smilie:
