AussieInWyoming
I came across this last night and wanted to pass it on. Prime Members: Click on the Amazon.com Prime sign in the top left hand side when you bring up an Amazon page. It should show a drop down box, and the first item should say "Unlimited Instant Videos - Prime members only". If you hover the mouse over this, it will give you the choice of Movies or TV shows and also states "unlimited instant streaming of 5,000 movies and tv shows with Amazon Prime". Yeah, I love Free stuff (with Amazon Prime membership) Some of the choices that are available: TV shows Masterpiece - Downton Abbey complete UK version Dr Who - complete season 1,2 and 3 Doc Martin Top Gear Torchwood Fawlty Towers The Civil War, a film by Ken Burns The Office, BBC Liberty Kids, the complete series (yeah!) etc, etc Movies The Girl Who Played with Fire Food, Inc The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Chariots of Fire etc Here is a link explaining it all: http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?ID=1531234&c=176060&highlight=&p=irol-newsArticle
Halcyon
This is great news, but I wonder how different the offerings are from Netflix...anyone know?
Tap
FYI: Just because someone will ask, it is only for 'paid' Amazon Prime members not the free memberships like mom or student.
SonshineLearner
For me, the difference is that it's already paid for ... for the 5000 movies. :)
myfatherslily
That's gonna attract a lot more people to Prime. I'll even consider it! For what would be $6.60/month, I could get all those videos PLUS free shipping?? Yeah, that's cool.
redsquirrel
It is much of the same stuff that is available for download at Netflix. There are some differences. It isn't ALL movies, btw. It is a fairly limited selection of old programs and movies. When they give those high numbers, they are counting each episode of long running TV series. However, I hope that other stuff becomes available over time. If you aren't already a prime member and already have a netflix membership, check what is available before you join up.
