Statistics after Algebra 2?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible (or even advisable) to go to Statistics after Algebra 2? Or would it be better to go to Pre-Calc first?

I'm planning ahead for dd's dual credit classes and was trying to figure out if Stat could be one of them.

Thanks,

Sue

Most of AP Statistics/ Stats 101 is pretty accessible, even with just Algebra 1. However... logarithms figure in rather heavily for translating exponential data to a linear form to do regression lines... and I would want the student to be absolutely, perfectly clear on coordinate graphing of linear, exponential, and quadratic equations, and on graphing translations.

Logarithms are usually Algebra 2, but sometimes get nudged over to precalculus... the graphing should be Algebra 2. If either of those isn't covered, though... I think I'd wait.
