FairProspects
How did it go? Ds was just not developmentally ready to read, so we put it aside for a few months and worked on just reading fluency with CVC words. Now, he is reading fairly well, and I picked OPGTR back up, but I am thinking he could really benefit from a review, starting right after short vowels, around lesson 42 or so even though we left off around lesson 80. Has anyone gone back and done more review like this before moving on to long vowels? Any detriments to slowing it down? I have to keep reminding myself we are making progress, even if it feels like swimming upstream!
ELaurie
back up as far as you need to; take as much time as your dc needs to master each skill. Time building a good foundation is time well spent, IMO :001_smile:
Heidi
We have! That's the great thing about homeschooling, isn't it? We can cater our teaching to the student's needs. No reason to plow on when they're not ready.
sarawatsonim
We stopped at around lesson 180 and did strictly review for about a month before continuing on.
