Laura Corin
I would look at a few good authors: Dick King-Smith (his books are at various levels), Roald Dahl (ditto), then on to The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Cricket in Times Square, Arthur Ransome..... my2boysteacher
My 9 year old boy is reading the 'Boxcar Children' series for his quiet reading time, and for our read alouds we are working through the Chronicles of Narnia series and currently 'Little Men' by Alcott. They want me to read 'Eight Cousins' also by Alcott next.
Guest mrsjamiesouth
Both of my boys love Roald Dahl, but I must warn you about them if he is sensitive. Have you seen the new version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? All of his books are like this. :D My oldest also enjoyed Boxcar Children, Swiss Family Robinson, Sherlock Holmes, Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, Shiloh, and Tornado to name a few.
