BikeBookBread
I made Indian food last night (chicken biryani) and the bottom layer (chicken marinated in yogurt and spices) burned. :( I'm trying to get this mess off of the bottom of my Le Creuset French oven. I've boiled water and scraped and still it is not coming off. Any other ideas? I don't want to use any type of scrubbing agents.
justamouse
Eeeek. What has helped me is when I take a bit of dishwasher detergent (even Ecos, what I use, works this way) and squirt some in the pot and add hot water. Then let it sit overnight. If it doesn't easily come off, give it a boil.
whitestavern
I use SOS or Brillo on my badly baked on Le Creuset pots. Not sure if that would be considered a "scrubbing agent" or not but it works like a dream.
holdoll
Sometimes I use Kosher Salt with a little warm water to make a scrubbing paste. It can be abrasive though.
MamaT
I have used an SOS pad on the bottom of my Le Creuset before and it didn't damage it at all.
RoughCollie
I put baking soda in the pot, thickly covering the surface, and add enough water to make a paste. I let it sit there for 24 hours, and if it doesn't work completely, I do it again until the pot is clean.

Chrystal
Some kind of acid heated to boiling scraping the bottom. If it is really bad I heat the acid (usually vinegar) to boiling and then just let it sit for a while and it come right up. Your pot may be stained dark and to take care of that I usually use a mild abrasive with bleach in it like Comet or the like.
