Jumaanah
Hello everyone! :001_smile: I'm Jumaanah. I'm home-edding my daughter(age 3) and son(age 2) and plan to do that with my new baby on the way. I've read lots on homeschooling but when i read the WTM i felt i had come home. I agree with all that i've read so far and i'm glad i came across it early enough as we haven't gone too far. It has also motivated me to fill all the "holes" in my education so planning on getting Susan's 'The Well-Educated Mind'. I'm about to buy my resources (list compiled from the WTM's resources list)and i would appreciate any advice and tips from you all. Especially in handwriting as i still don't know whether to go for Zaner-Bloser or Handwriting without tears.

Jyniffrec
Hello! We use Handwriting Without Tears for all of our children and have had success with it. It has worked for our kids who have a hard time with handwriting and those who haven't.

Researcher
Welcome! :seeya: We really liked HWT for the younger ages. They have great multi-sensory activities that turn learning the letter formation into fun play.
Jumaanah
Walaikumusalaam Osmosis mom! Hello Jennifer, Judomom and Researcher! Thanx for your replies. I've been browsing the forums and i'm so glad i found this website! Dd's begging me to teach her cursive handwriting and is always scribbling and asking why it's not coming out like mine. Does the HWT provide an easy transition to cursive handwriting? A kiss for my namesake Osmosis mom! Lovely pic Researcher!
ChrissySC
We are Zaner-Bloser at our house. I started teaching manuscript before K. We started teaching cursive beginning of 2nd. Slow and steady is a must regardless of which program. Handwriting develops with visual and motor skills. :) Do not stress over the lines. We started using plain white sheets of paper! Happy to have you about - you can never start too early ;)
Rosie_0801
Welcome to the boards! You can do cursive with her now if you and she want to. :) Rosie
Jumaanah
Chrissy I do like Zaner-Bloser, it was my first choice but when i looked at their web-site i couldn't find the Continuous stroke Alphabet Series. They seem to have something else now. Can you recommend a substitute for the Continuous-stroke Alphabet series?
Researcher
Dd's begging me to teach her cursive handwriting and is always scribbling and asking why it's not coming out like mine. Does the HWT provide an easy transition to cursive handwriting? Lovely pic Researcher! Thanks! I love books. I'm giddy when the UPS truck arrives to bring more.:D Although, I am running out of bookshelves. So I look at every wall in my house as the perfect place to add more shelves. I'm not sure you would call that a decorating style, but it's mine.:tongue_smilie: I think HWT gives a very easy transition to cursive since they teach cursive without the open loops. It's a vertical style very similar to HWT print.
