Johanna
yeah, it is now officially banned from the house!:glare: I got most of it up, but it left sort of a silly putty stain. any ideas?
Georgie
It sounds weird I know, but when my husband tracked a tar like substance on my white carpet while I was out of town he used wd40 to loosen the sticky parts from the carpet fiber. It worked, I was none the wiser until he confessed. :) (Test a small spot on your carpet first to be sure it won't leave a mark on your carpet.) For stains, I always use Carpet Capture. You can find it at your local Home Depot in the cleaning section. First you use the spray and then you brush in the powder. It is safe for pets and kids. You don't have to wait for the carpet to dry, you can walk on it right away.
KS_
Rubbing alcohol works for silly putty on clothes - I'm not sure if it's safe for carpets or not, but it gets the residue off.
Cindy in FL.
Something like Goo Gone would work as well. I've used it on my carpet without a problem, but you may want to check it on a discreet area first. Cindy

THe results are in! ......goo gone provided the best results (but not perfect):001_huh: but, at least it helped to lighten up the stain a bit and take out the stickyness. Thanks again everyone for the tips!
tinkgumby
I'm so glad I read this. Some yellow Silly Putty oozed out onto our dark green carpet, and I've never gotten it all off! I'm going to give these suggestions a try, as well! :thumbup1:
