I totally agree!!!! :iagree:

I totally supported McCain in 2000 against Bush. But there's no way I can support him this time around. It seems to me McCain's advisors are just using Palin. It sounds as if this VP thing was a complete surprise to her, her family, even to McCain! He'd only met her once before this decision was made. MCCAIN didn't choose her, his advisors did. I agree with what the others have said, that Palin should step down during her family's time of need. The decisions being made by the adults in this scenario are selfish. Palin's tiny little baby is going to hardly know his mama! Do you realize how much traveling (to foreign countries etc..) is involved in the VP slot? How can she remain focused on her 5 children and a pregnant, emotionally needy teen? What if something happened to McCain - he's pretty old! I don't care if it was a man in this position - a man couldn't handle it all either.

I like your idea! I'll try to think up something I like about both sides: McCain: I like that Cindy McCain travels for charitable purposes, and that they adopted a child, Bridget, from a foreign country (forget which one.) Obama: I like that he's an inspiration to so many and seems to be a truly wonderful family man. -
What do you do for a first birthday?

I don't have any great ideas, but I visited your blog and just had to tell you your little guy (snort) is adorable!!!! What a cutie! -
I was driving my friend's son "Joe"(8yo) to the park a few months ago and for some odd reason, totally unprovoked by the other kids in the car, he kinda shouts out "I hate myself! I hate myself!" I didn't tell my friend, figuring it was just a thing, who knows. Well, last week another boy convinced Joe to steal $20 from his mother's wallet!!! It has blown up into a HUGE deal. He is in serious trouble. Joe is a really sweet, gentle boy, but seems so quiet, withdrawn, struggles socially etc... So, now that he's in BIG trouble for stealing from his parents, I am wondering if I should tell the mom about how he yelled that he hated himself. Perhaps the child needs help, a counselor to discuss things? Hmmmm the friend is a good one, but I don't want to offend her or burden her with more worry if it's really not necessary kwim?? I googled this a bunch of different ways (different keywords) but can't seem to find anything helpful. So, of course I thought of you all!

Things we get at Costco that are organic (or grown "pesticide free"): tomatoes eggs ground beef blue corn tortilla chips bread cucumbers mixed greens salad baby carrots frozen green beans frozen peaches (for smoothies) frozen blueberrries (for smoothies) frozen raspberries (for smoothies) butter (only at certain costco stores...) flaxseed crackers autumn wheat cereal peanut butter jelly/jam/preserves Hmmm there are probably a few more that I'm forgetting. Our Costco is fairly consistent with these products. They've had other organic items in the past which they stopped carrying. Other items which are organic (cookies, milk, snacky kinds of foods etc...) we just don't buy.

After all the candy of Easter, I decided we needed to start a "clean" and "healthy" way of eating again. We always try to eat well, but we'd been eating too much candy / sugars etc... I've read several books about flours/sugars and their effects on the body, but I just re-read Sugars and Flours: How They Make Us Crazy, Sick and Fat by Joan Ifland Today I made pancakes using: Organic Oats, Organic Oat Bran, Eggs, Milk, Vanilla, Salt, Baking Powder (aluminum free), diced bananas, frozen blueberries. Smeared coconut oil in a stainless steel pan and cooked. They were AWESOME. We dabbed some butter on top, but they are so tasty you don't need syrup or jelly. That's just one breakfast idea that the kids love. We do lots of variations on scrambled eggs. Also, we get a delicious Sprouted Grain bread from Trader Joe's... it's the only one I've tried that actually tasted GREAT. The others are awful to me and the kids (and HARD). I'll make egg/cheese sandwiches with it and french toast. Some other quick/easy ideas: Chicken/Rice soup (with carrots, onion, potatoes, sweet potatoes) Chili (w/ground turkey or grassfed beef) Chicken Marsala & rice (w/ green & yellow zucchini on the side) good luck with finding some recipes! oh, one more thing. I pack a 1 quart size zip-lock bag full of the following: walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds (shelled), sunflower seeds, raisins, shredded coconut. It is a delicious mix. I keep it in the car with me, and take it places when I know I'll be tempted to eat something "bad".

KellyBelly replied to Debbie in OR's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Insurance Brokerage Representative (well, started at age 17 as a receptionist / insurance assistant... worked up to representative over the years. Worked there a total of 8.5 years... a lifetime to a young gal.) 1st Grade Teacher - Only for one school year (got married and along came ds#1. I've stayed at home, poppin' out boys since then!) Now I am just "technology-challenged mommy" who has her kids program cell phones and help figure out computer stuff, like how to add things to my "favorites" feature. errrrrrrr my kids can't believe I had real jobs and graduated college summa cum laude!:willy_nilly: -

Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right. Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. ~ Dr. Seuss -
I was just thinking about how grateful I am that my dh is at work, providing this good life for us. Let's give our wonderful husbands a big hug and kiss today! :001_wub::001_tt1:

I lurked on the old boards from time to time, but I never posted b/c I felt like everyone was a tight-knit group of friends... I post more here b/c I'm familiar with this format (I used to frequent another site with the exact format) and because it seems less exclusive. It's also easier to follow conversations imo, and it's nice to see everyone's avatars. (I haven't taken time to put mine up...) Happy Friday! Cheers :cheers2:

Games for a horse-themed birthday party?

That sounds like a GREAT game, even if it's not a horse party! -
Question about plastics and food
KellyBelly replied to Nestof3's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We have a LARGE toaster oven (you can even fit a dinner plate inside). It's not quite as fast as a microwave, bit works great. I still zap quick things in the micro (like 1 minute or less) but dh won't eat anything microwaved. He even has a toaster oven at work. (We invested in a bunch of glass storage containers by Anchor Hocking... I think that's the brand. Or Pyrex. They all fit in the toaster oven.) -

Games for a horse-themed birthday party?
KellyBelly replied to 3lilreds in NC's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We went to a horse-riding party. They played a game called "stomp the fly". Each kid had a black balloon tied to their ankle and they had to try to pop each others' balloons. The last balloon "standing" was the winner of a prize. It got pretty wild, but no one fell or got bumped... they just need some room to do this.
