Corraleno
ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) has produced a free, downloadable, 270-page book on the history of astronomy world-wide (includes Asia, Pre-Columbian America, and indigenous peoples, as well as Europe & the Near East). It's wonderfully illustrated (full color), and focuses on world heritage sites of astronomical significance as well as the cultural and historical context for each region/time period. Awesome resource for anyone looking to tie science to history! http://www.astronomicalheritage.org/images/content/astroherit/WHC-internal/Astronomy-and-World-Heritage_Thematic-Study.pdf Jackie

Teachin'Mine
Thank you Jackie - it's awesome!!! I had to just scroll through most of the beginning pages, but I did read a bit of the intro to understand what it's all about. Once you get to the pages explaining about each individual historic site, the content is fabulous!
Corraleno
I love the fact that the chapters are divided by culture/region, so you could just use the chapter on Egyptian astronomy or Chinese astronomy or Indian astronomy when you're studying that culture, or you could use the whole book as part of a History of Science course, or add it to an Astronomy course. Very flexible! Jackie
