cathmom
I came up with this the other day. We have Caller ID. If we don't recognize the number, we don't answer. Period. But even when we don't answer, we have to interrupt what we are doing to check who it is, which isn't always so easy. And it's aggravating to have people calling us, on the phone line WE pay for, to try to sell us stuff or whatever. So I thought - wouldn't it be great if you could program in the numbers you would accept calls from, and everyone else would have to leave a message WITHOUT the phone ringing? Then at your leisure you could check your messages. And you would know that the phone ringing meant someone you actually want to hear from was on the other end! Mom2J112903
When we lived in W.Va our neighbors actually had something very similar to this. To get the phone to actually ring in you had to know a code, of course only certain people were given the security code. Everything else went straight to their voice mail. Never looked into it because we always have the phone right beside us.
5LittleMonkeys
My phone has ringer ID. So I assign a certain ring to numbers that I want to talk to (which aren't many:tongue_smilie:). If I hear the "bad" ring I just ignore it.
mrs.m
I just asked about this because I thought for sure I could block certain numbers (sales people & scammers that call over and over again!!!). Great minds must think alike. ;)
Oak Knoll Mom
I use google voice and I can put people in different groups and assign those groups different options. I can tell it which groups to send straight to voice mail, which groups to notify me by text if they call, and which groups to actually ring my phone. It's great!
