ktgrok
How can somewhere be 9 1/2 hours different? Aren't time zones all in one hour increments? My husband is in India and the internet tells me the difference is 9 1/2 hours. Is that right?
Leanna Tomlinson
I don't get it either, but when my dh travelled to India in July, he was also 9.5 hours different from us.
Melinda in VT
Time zones are not all in 1-hour increments. Usually, yes, but not always.
KidsHappen
Nope, if you look at a time zone map you will see that there are even 15 minute increments in some places. There are some places in one time zone that are surrounded by places that are in another time zone and the international date line kind of zigs and zags all over the place. Generally speaking the zones progress in one hour increments but local places are allowed to make adjustments to suit their own purposes. That is why Arizona and New Mexico don't have daylight savings time.
HayesW
Yep! We were watching a movie once with all the children. It had a scene with the 10 clocks on the wall set at the correct time. we made fun of India because it was 30 minutes off instead of an hour. Thanks to Wikipedia (I know) we were all set straight!
