KnitWit
I have a Canon Power Shot point and shoot...which, I mostly love, except the zoom is not enough for me. I need a longer zoom. :( So, I'm contemplating sending my camera with my *off to college* dd and buying myself another. (I have 5 more kids at home) Can anyone recommend a good choice that is good for taking pics of activities your kids are in...from back in an audience? Like plays/choir/band concerts? I don't want one I have to study and take a test to use! LOL! Thank you!
dansamy
Sounds like you are ready for a super-zoom camera. I think Canon's most popular one is the SX120IS. Not as fully featured as a dSLR, but certainly more powerful and customizable than a P&S.
Parrothead
For one that will take pix like you described you'll want an SLR digital camera. Yeah, one you have to take a test to use. You just don't get more than 4x digital zoom on a point and shoot.
Trish
This one has a great zoom for a point and shoot: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K 8.1MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black)
Dad 4 Boys
I saw this Nikon in Popular Mechanics. It has 10X zoom in a camera that will basically fit in your pocket. Nikon S8000 I haven't done a whole lot of research into it, but it looks interesting.
