proudmamma
Does anyone have any "living books" suggestions that I can add to my daughter's chemistry course this fall? We are using Apologia. I have Exploring the World of Chemistry, but I can't come up with any others. I thought it would be nice to maybe do one each quarter. Any ideas? Guest
I am in the process of picking out selected chapters for my daughter from The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean; The Joy of Chemistry by Cathy Cobb; and The Elements of Murder (a history of poison) by John Elmsley. I have not yet been able to get a copy of Crime Scene Chemistry for the Armchair Sleuth to see whether it looks fun and appropriate, but I'm looking for that one too. At the end of the year, when she is more familiar with chemistry, I'm going to give her Uncle Tungsten by Oliver Sacks.

lmrich
The book - The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie is about a young girl obsessed with chemistry. It is a cute, mystery book. Not educational at all. Just funny that a young girl loves chemistry so much and uses it in such interesting ways.
