Crissy
TERRIBLE at reading aloud. :001_huh: True, listening to other people read is difficult for me in the first place, but I am surprised that the Queen of the Book Club isn't better than that! (Laura Bush is on her show today, and she read an excerpt from the former First Lady's book--maybe/probably a re-run?)
newlifemom
The person who read Despareux [sp?] aloud was fabulous!
gingersmom
I have a hard time listening to other people read out loud. My 10 year old is amazing! I always joke that he is going to do radio commercials when he gets older.
Crissy
It's a skill you have to practice for sure. Maybe that's part of my problem. I am far worse than Oprah, so I didn't read aloud to my boys very often. I probably just needed more practice. Maybe with grandchildren.... LNC
Cherry Jones (read Little House series audio and President Taylor on 24) is my very favorite. I would love to listen to more that she's read.
Crissy
The person who read Despareux [sp?] aloud was fabulous! You know who I really love? John R. Erickson, author of Hank the Cow Dog. I could listen to him All Day Long.
KidsHappen
The person who read Despareux [sp?] aloud was fabulous! If you are talking about the audio book, the copy we have was read by Sigourney Weaver who was also the narrator on the movie.
KidsHappen
I believe I read that she had a very limited and challanging education, maybe even dyslexia.
BikeBookBread
I just downloaded The Wizard of Oz from iTunes, and the narrator is Ron Knowles. He is just really hard to listen to. He tries to do all of the voices, but it sounds just...off. I wish I had done a more-careful search, as there are several recordings available. I too love Cherry Jones' reading of the Little House books. Elizabeth Sastre, reader of the "Shoes" books by Noel Streatfeild is great, too.
