I have no idea what to use for Bible study this year

Recommended Posts

I read the The Golden Children's Bible aloud to the little ones and we discuss it, but I don't know what to use with the other kids. We did BSGFAA 1 last year and I don't want to continue with it.

I’d like something we can all use together even if the littlies don't completely grasp it right now. I think I want something that digs into why we believe what we believe. Any suggestions?

How about a catechism? We got a lot of value from the Shorter Westminster for Children, even in the couple areas where I felt like I had to qualify it with a "yes, but". It clarified many things for me too. I found a version online and just printed out enough copies to go around. (click on Historic Church Documents if the link doesn't take you to it. I think the one I used was Catechism for Young Children.)

In fact, that is what I should put on our sched. for Bible.

For kids in the middle range, the Big Book of Questions and Answers by Ferguson Sinclair follows a catechism pattern. It doesn't have the kids memorize question and answer, but it does provide some discussion and scripture references.

I'm going to use the Explorers Bible Study the one you can print out for free that someone else mentioned. http://www.explorerbiblestudy.org/study.php you just have to make sure you download them each week so you can save them. Also someone else recommended: I have three children and I'll just do the older one and include all three. We'll answer the questions together.

so we'll use that and I have some cards that were from a game that have questions and answers that I'll use.

My ds10 has been going through the Kay Arthur Discover For Yourself series. I love that it is a real inductive bible study but made interesting and appropriate for kids. He is learning Bible study principles and methods he can use throughout life in addition to growing spiritually now.

Ooooh, thanks for this! I signed up, and they even sent me an email with the dates for all my downloads. Very cool! I was just trying to decide if I should order, bummed that the discount didn't apply to the adult study too, and voila! I got all the versions!
