Free Indeed
I was pondering getting the Key to series to use with LOF Fractions and Decimals and Percents. Then I saw that Math Mammoth had something very similar. Anyone have any experience with either one that could help me decide which one I want? Jen500
We have used some of the Key to...books,incuding Fractions, and some MM fractions topical sheets. I think the Key to books are very good for extra practice. They have brief explanations and LOTS of practice problems. My dc told me that MM has much better explanations than the Key to series, at least for fractions. I have no experience with LOF.
dragons in the flower bed
My dc told me that MM has much better explanations than the Key to series, at least for fractions. My DC (the 12yo & 9yo) tell me exactly the opposite. My own experience is the opposite too. We find MM's explanations to be mathy and abstract, whereas Key to... explanations are visual and real-lifey.
mycalling
*Revive thread* I know it's an old thread, but are there any other opinions on this? MM or Keys?? Which has better explanations?
Paintedlady
I agree that the Key To series is very visual and straightforward, and as much as I love MM, the Key To Series are my go to curricula for early introduction to fractions. mazakaal
While I'm using MM with my younger dc, I have no experience with their fractions material. My 12yo is using Key to Fraction, Decimals, and Percents to supplement LOF, and it's worked very well for him. So I can't really comment on MM's fractions, but have been very happy with their other materials, but I certainly recommend the Key to books. purplemama
I will use both for my daughter--she loves MM, but also needs the very visual format of Key to... I got the whole MM curriculum for $100, and the Key to books are not very expensive, yet worth their weight in gold, IMO. Jennifer
